The best credit card for you would depend on your unique situation and budget. There is no “one size fits all” or overall best credit card for everyone, as different people want and need different credit cards.
Every situation is unique, and therefore you have to make the decision as to whether that particular card is right for you, and if you are applying for the right reasons.
Many people, when getting their first credit card, are apprehensive about which type to get. When you’re first starting out, the basic things to look for in a credit card are a low interest rate, grace periods that you can be comfortable with, and perhaps rewards or bonuses that interest you.
When comparing rewards, look for things that you will actually use, this may sound like i am teaching you to suck eggs, but you would be surprised at the amount of people that will go for a credit card by just looking at tits face value. It may say that it has a 0% balance transfer but this may be only for the first 6 months, it may state a very low APR, but again teh fine print will say this is subject to change. Read before you sign, there are many cards out there that actually do what they say, for instance the rate for life card by MBNA, this card offers a low rate APR for life!
When applying for a low APR credit card, make sure you compare all the cards. Go on comparison sites, but ultimately go on the company website direct to apply, this way you can read all the terms and conditions up to date (some comparison sites may not update as regularly)
Don’t forget to factor in such things as how they expect you to pay the monies owed. If you have to mail it in or go to the bank every month this can get quite annoying and time consuming. Whereas online banking can be easiest, or better still set up a direct debit so you don’t have to worry about it all!
There are so many deals and benefits for credit cards these days; you practically have to have a degree to sort them all out. But have no fear; a little bit of patience and some careful time spent looking around will yield so many variations, that you’ll be more than happy with what’s on offer!
